A photograph of the suspected pickpocket, released by Eastleigh police
THIS is the image of a suspected pickpocket who was chased by shop workers after a woman with learning difficulties reported that her purse had been stolen.
The man was captured on CCTV after a purse containing bus passes and nearly £100 was taken from the bag of a vulnerable woman shopping in Poundland, Eastleigh.
Store staff gave chase as he sprinted off towards Eastleigh Train Station, but he disappeared after turning right into Southampton Road.
Now police are hoping witnesses will come forward with information after releasing an image of their suspect, who is described as eastern European and aged between 30 and 35.
The drama happened between 11.40am and 12pm on January 25.
PC Robert Thomas said: “There have been a number of purse thefts over the last couple of years in Eastleigh, and the Safer Neighbourhoods Team is keen to catch those responsible.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Thomas on 101.
