Around 1,000 residents in a Hampshire village are without power this morning following an electrical fault.

A broken generator caused the problems for homeowners in North Baddesley at around 4pm yesterday, originally leaving some 3,000 people without electricity.

Engineers from Southern Scottish Electricity carried our repair work last night to restore power to around two-thirds of the affected homes.

Mobile generators were also brought in to service the remaining properties, but this also went down just half an hour later.

The company said they were continuing to work on the issue and hoped to have the problems resolved by 1pm.

A spokesperson from Southern Scottish Energy said: “We do apologise for any inconvenience caused to these customers and we would like to assure them that we are doing all we can to get the power back up as soon as possible.”
