Traffic lights have failed at a major Southampton junction.

The signals are down at the junction of Archers Road and Hill Lane due to an electrical fault, causing slow moving traffic during the morning rush hour.

A spokeswoman from Southampton City Council said: “It appears that yesterday evening both us and the Police were alerted to the fact that the signals kept going off and on again.

“An engineer went to the site and determined that it appeared to be an electrical controller fault and as it was a wet evening the safest action was to turn them completely off and bag them until a repair could be carried out in the morning.”

Engineers are in the process of repairing the lights.
