Eastleigh by-election date revealed
5:36pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
Exclusive By Emma Streatfield, Senior Reporter
Former Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne
EASTLEIGH will decide on its new MP in less than a month's time.
February 28 is set to be announced as the date set for the town's by-election, following Chris Huhne's resignation on Monday.
Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Alistair Carmichael will tomorrow move the writ in the House of Commons to trigger the Eastleigh by-election.
The party who had held the seat can choose the date, but it must give at least 17 days' notice from the announcement before the by-election.
Liberal Democrat Party President Tim Farron said: “Liberal Democrats have proud 20-year record of action in Eastleigh, fighting for people in both local government and in Westminster.
“The people of Eastleigh should have the opportunity to elect someone to serve the constituency as soon as possible.
“This is going to be a tough fight, and clearly a fight that's between Liberal Democrats and Conservatives. I know that we will be up to the task - and I am confident and determined that we will win.”

Calling the by-election this early means that what Huhne has done will still be fresh in people's memory while any sensible voter will not go for another one of Cameron's cronies.
Go UKIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J.P.M wrote:Having seen and commented upon Southy's tirade of tosh, even to question how an election result where he was no more than a joke candidate, he claims was a resounding victory How he has claimed at every opportunity that the TUSC who are against coalitions (but they are one themselves) are the true party of the future. Finally now the time has come where he can make his presence as a political colossus, shaking the foundations of the British parliamentary system. However, he needs to stand. In this paper he is the most prominent member of the TUSC and as such should be afforded the chance to put a TUSC MP in to parliament.

To actually try and claim that Southy has honest intentions or the ability to tell the truth is laughable. Since you are his consort perhaps you can try to get a response form him or the other policy maker at the TUSC.
WHAT IS A NEEDS BUDGET HOW WILL IT BE FUNDED, then may be details on how the moon causes earthquakes (including credible evidence), the details about a child damaged by the MMR vaccine and the major payout awarded. If you are kind enough to give a response I will add further questions that have as yet been unanswered, as I am sure others will.
Southy has a chance to make political ground and he should grasp it with both hands!!

No mention of it in their manifesto, but they are about to change the centuries-old tradition of marriage. Whether we are in favour or not doesn't matter, it's being changed, so there! (Personally,I'm in favour - but our views are irrelevant)
We're all wealthy in Hampshire, so who cares about the benefit cuts to low paid workers and the unemployed?
In fact, we're all extremely wealthy in Hampshire, so who cares about the removal of child benefit from the middle classes?
We're all so wealthy we can all enjoy the Tory cut in the top rate of tax for the highest earners, can't we? Great stuff.
And we don't enjoy a drink at home, so the Tories minimum 45p unit price of alcohol tax, which will increase some bottles of cider from £3.50 to over £10 a bottle, just doesn't matter. The Tories were against this at the last election, but not now they are in power, so it's just another Tory tax lie. But we don't care, we're loaded.
And remember, it's the rest who are 'dishonest', so let's vote Tory. Fantastic!
Tory bonus - we'll also get our new nuclear bombs, at a cost of £30 billion to us. What austerity?
