Youngsters flock to careers day
7:52am Saturday 9th February 2013 in News
SCORES of youngsters from across Hampshire flocked to a careers event in Southampton.
Students from schools and colleges across the city descended on the Creative Arts, Media and Theatre Industry Showcase, to speak to professionals about their future careers.
Exhibitors from a host of Hampshire firms, including the Daily Echo, set up stalls at City College to pass on their words of advice to students.
The annual event is designed to give school leavers the chance to speak directly to employers and industry experts about their futures.
David O’Garr, director of studies for art, design, media and theatre at the college, said: “It’s great to get the support of industry and the professionals that have come along have given great input, which will help inform our young people.
“These are important decisions and they are sometimes difficult ones to make, but this event allows them to see the seamless route through their training and into employment.
“People need to see that vision and that’s exactly why we hold this event. We had a lot of students through the door so I’m really pleased.”
