Detectives are appealing for help to identify and catch two men who tried to rob a group of four people in Hampshire.

Three women and a man were near the pedestrian crossing next to Ladbrokes on Lake Road in Portsmouth, when they were approached by two men they did not know.

One of the men used a pair of scissors to threaten the group. None of the four were carrying cash.

One of the group, a 21-year-old woman from Portsmouth, gave around £2.50 in change from her purse to the robbers, who then left them and headed off towards Buckingham Green.

None of the group was assaulted or injured during the robbery, which took place at around 4.30am on Sunday, February 10, 2013.

The first suspect was described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his 20s
  • 6 ft tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a hooded top with a black and white scarf across his face.

The second suspect was described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his 20s
  • 5 ft 10 ins tall
  • Chubby build
  • Wearing a grey hooded top
