A group of adventurers have completed an epic Antarctic expedition - but without Hampshire sailor Nick Bubb.
The 33-year-old yachtsman is suffering from trench foot and was unable to take part in a gruelling three-day trek across South Georgia.
Tim Jarvis, Barry Gray and Paul Larsen were forced to leave him behind as they tackled the island's mountainous interior.
But Nick, from Lymington, was present when the trio arrived at an old whaling station at Stromness and joined in the celebrations.
The expedition has successfully recreated a legendary journey made by polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and some of his crew after their ship the Endurance was crushed by pack ice and sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915.
Nick and the others sailed from Elephant Island to South Georgia in a 22ft boat, taking 12 days to complete the 800-mile journey.
But Nick and two other members of the expedition developed trench foot as a result of the wet and cold conditions and were unable to complete the second half of the expedition.
