Police in Portsmouth are appealing for witnesses after a woman collided with a cyclist as she walked home from work.

The incident occurred at the junction of Balliol Road and Binsteed Road in Fratton.

The pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman from Portsmouth, was crossing the road and collided with the cyclist who was travelling south on Balliol Road.

The cyclist, thought to be around 15 or 16-years-old, stopped at the scene but then left without leaving his details.

PC Steve Wootton from the Fratton Roads Policing Unit said: “Initially the woman did not think she was seriously hurt but has since found out she suffered a fractured eye socket and will require surgery.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or to the cyclist himself.”
