Woman hurt after collision with cyclist
Police in Portsmouth are appealing for witnesses after a woman collided with a cyclist as she walked home from work.
The incident occurred at the junction of Balliol Road and Binsteed Road in Fratton.
The pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman from Portsmouth, was crossing the road and collided with the cyclist who was travelling south on Balliol Road.
The cyclist, thought to be around 15 or 16-years-old, stopped at the scene but then left without leaving his details.
PC Steve Wootton from the Fratton Roads Policing Unit said: “Initially the woman did not think she was seriously hurt but has since found out she suffered a fractured eye socket and will require surgery.
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or to the cyclist himself.”
Anyone with information about the incident at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, January 23 is asked to contact PC Wootton from the Fratton Roads Policing Unit by phoning 101.
Mini-Com users can call the police on 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

I suspect the usual pro cycling idiots that post on here will blame the pedestrian or the non existant motorist for this incident.
1. Was on the road.
2. Stopped after the accident and it seems was told the lady wasn't hurt.
Now there may be other factors, it may have been dark, he may not have had lights, we don't know but from the simple evidence you have actually read who would you guess was at fault.
