TV comedy writer John O'Farrell to represent Labour in Eastleigh by-election
9:34pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
Labour have tonight chosen John O’Farrell as their candidate for the Eastleigh by-election.
The TV comedy writer was selected ahead of media entrepreneur Mark Latham and two Southampton city councillors, Cllr Andrew Pope and Cllr Darren Paffey.
Labour was the final party to select its candidate for the hotly contested by-election, which will take place on February 28.
Mr O'Farrell will do battle with six other hopefuls for the seat, including the Conservatives’ Maria Hutchings and Mike Thornton from the Liberal Democrats.
It comes after disgraced Chris Huhne resigned from the role, after admitting to perverting the course of justice.
Mr O'Farrell said: “I am delighted to have been selected as the Labour candidate for Eastleigh, and look forward to pounding the pavements with members and supporters over the next two weeks."

My mitigation:
As at the time I made my decision there was no Socialist, Green or NHS candidate, I worked on Alan Lloyd to try for NuLabour nomination, he probably will say I pestered him.
You and few others may not share my reasoning but, I am convinced LibDem and Tories can be defeated by right kind of NuLabour candidate, and Alan is some of the old Labour type guy.
Other reason, I rather stick with Devil of NuLabour I know than other two monsters I do not.
Enemy of my enemy is a friend theory also played its part.
I was also phoned by very close friend Varindra Sharma MP to work with him in Eastleigh and I also promised the same to another old colleague and friend Alan Whitehead.
Although since then other candidates have come up, I am probably old fashioned person, who believe in honouring his word, especially given to friends.
So although NEC has kept Lloyd even off the short list, which is great disappointment, and also proof that good socialists have been marginalised within NuLabour, I can console myself because I have the opportunity to contribute my effort against opportunist and unprincipled Coalition partners who are victimising ordinary people and filling the pockets of super rich.
I am old enough to face the fact and can handle bit of justified stick from decent people. In my experience best thing to do is to be 100% honest with people who are intelligent and kind enough not to be too harsh.
This by election is not that much about NuLabour but about pro super rich and anti poor and young people policies of this Coalition. About broken manifesto pledges by both Tories and Lib Dem, about privatisation of NHS and above all honesty of politicians, for example how Huhne has let Eastleigh down. About Coaltion forcing local councils to implement cuts in badly needed services. How can likes of Keith House led Lib Dem support that Coalition?

The Labour Party were the ones that didn't handle the problem correctly and paid the price in the Election. It would be better if electors voted for best person, not for their Political allegiance, we might get a better balance in Parliament if that happened.
It seems like everyone us voting based on the person and not on his political views!

A lot more simpler.. the UK generally tests for infections and antibiotics and (apart from the obvious Chernobyl/Fukushima etc ) overlooks tests for environmental chemicals in meat.
That's why environmentally (Arsenic/Fluoride etc) contaminated meat is hard to export easy to import.
