No Green candidate for Eastleigh by-election

No Green candidate for Eastleigh by-election No Green candidate for Eastleigh by-election

THE Green Party has decided not to put forward a candidate for the by-election. A spokeswoman confirmed a Green Party representative will not be added to the candidates list.

She said: “We have decided instead to concentrate on the upcoming county council elections, which we will be contesting strongly.”

The decision not to run for the seat appears to have been taken relatively late, after the National Health Action party candidate Iain Maclennan revealed he was originally selected as a candidate for the Green Party only to be told they had decided not to run.

Strange that the Greens are not running in Eastleigh, where the Lib Dems have trumpeted their green credentials (and validly so). Or are the Greens supporting the Lib Dems because of this?

Not a fully functioning political choice apparently. Remenber that in future.

My personal Green Issues are:
1. No to Fracking.
2. No to making Rommney Marsh a Nuclear Waste Dump it may be in Kent but radiation risk will be for the whole of the South Coast .
3. Public Buildings should have Solar Panels installed.
That Green enough for you ? You will find me on your ballot paper.

1. Frackinghas been around for years and all the bad things associated are just hype. It is good for the economy and good for gas consumers. Just look at pro-fracking States in USA.

2. Nuclear Power is a safe, viable alternative option. Nuclea Waste Dumps are blown out of proportion in terms of being safe. By uneducated people like yourself.

3. Solar panels are fine in Saudi Arabia. Once technology and costs improve, they might be here. However, if you want consistent power, dont rely on wind or solar.

4. Unfortunately, there is a section of society who wish to rule by the precautionary principle. i.e. never do anything just incase it is unsafe. They belong in caves.

Theres no big story here. You'll be able to vote green in eastleigh in the upcoming council elections and very likely in the general election in 2015.
Remember this by election is only to elected someone for 2 years.

Forest Hump. Unfortunately for you it is clear to all normal people that Nuclear power is not safe , Japans Tsunami and Chernobyl come to mind. As for Solar power we have positive proof that it works even on a cloudy day . My Church has massive Solar Panels and makes us in a small way an electric producer not consumer.
Nice to know the Green Debate in Eastleigh can be easily won.
