Foreign secretary William Hague visits Eastleigh to campaign for Conservative Maria Hutchings
12:08pm Friday 15th February 2013 in News
By Patrick Knox, Senior Reporter
Foreign secretary William Hague took time out from international politics this morning to throw his weight behind the Conservative Eastleigh by-election candidate.
Mr Hague was out canvassing with Tory hopeful Maria Hutchings in Hedge End.
They spoke to shop keepers on Lower Northam Road and canvassed residents.
Mr Hague said despite the recent spate of economic bad news in the area, which includes the loss of Ford Factory in Swaythling, he defended the Conservative's record.
He said: "What's happening over all is that the number of private sector jobs is increasing, and that is true across most of the country.
"But we are not complacent about that.
"We now have a record number of new apprenticeships for young people and have a work programme to cut unemployment and get people back to work."
He also endorsed Mrs Hutchings because of her experience.
"She has been working hard in Eastleigh for a number of years, campaigning for local people.
"She has a record of campaigning for green fields, for disability rights, and with all her experience as a businesswoman, i think what more could you want."
Mr Hague is the latest political heavyweight to be deployed and follows Prime Minister David Cameron's meeting yesterday.
It comes after Deputy Prime Mininister Nick Clegg earlier this week launched the race for the seat, vacated by Chris Huhne last week.
The date for the election has been set for Feburary 28.

Where was the Torys when the Ford workers was out on strike to save there jobs, just like Labour, Lib/Dems, Greens, UKIP and BNP no where to be seen, No support to the workers only condeming them for striking to save there jobs.
But oh look a by-election and now they are worried the whole lot of them, The only ones that was there to support the Ford Workers and there strike to save jobs was the Socialist Party and the TUSC, no other party around to be seen.

Never seen them before, and we won't see them again after Feb 28th. We'll just all see the Tory tax increases.

Its not an insult at all, if Construction workers can do it, so can an MP and every one else can if they choose to.
No come on don't bail out on me now, because it will show that even UKIP is on that gravy train.

This morning’s Populus poll bears that out. They are in third place with 21 per cent, with the Tories second on 28 and the Lib Dems ahead with 33. But, as the indispensable UK Polling Report points out,if you don’t reallocate some of the undecides to the party they voted for last time, UKIP are doing even better. The numbers then are UKIP 25%, Tories 26% and Lib Dems 31%"

Vote for the TUSC candidate, like all TUSC candidates they will do the MP's job on a working mans wage and no expenses saving the country a little bit of tax payers money, they also offer the vote on the EU.
