A witness tells the Echo how he and other neighbours tried to get into the burning house.

The man rescued from the burning house has been taken to hospital, after being treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

The road has now fully reopened following the early drama.
Fire investigators and police officers remain at the scene, along with a fire appliance.

Firefighters investigate the home after putting the fire out. They are currently trying to determine what caused the blaze.

Firefighters rescued one man from the building and he was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
There was no one else in the building at the time, although initial reports suggested two people were inside the house.
The damage has been mainly to one room upstairs at the front of the building.

Osborne Road South runs parallel to Thomas Lewis Way, but the incident is thought unlikely to cause much disruption to the main road at this stage.

HFRS say they "are not aware" of anyone in the building. The service have also deployed a incident support unit on the scene.

Four fire appliances from three of Southampton's fire stations are on the scene trying to tackle the blaze.
The crews are using four breathing appratatus, one hose reel and one jet.

The fire is on the first floor of a two-storey house. Fire crews were called to the scene in St. Denys at 3.56pm.

Police and Hampshire Fire & Rescue are currently on scene.
