Three taken to hospital after car rolls "several times" on A34

A MAJOR Hampshire road has been closed this evening after a car overturned “several times” and came to rest down an embankment.

The A34 was closed northbound at 4pm and traffic has backed up for miles while emergency teams work at the scene, between the A272 and A30 turnings.

Three people have been freed from the wreckage and taken to hospital.

The southbound carriageway was closed while the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Helicopter landed at the scene.

Northbound traffic was being diverted back down the road with closures set to be in place in to the night.

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area “at all costs”.

Typical A34 weekend, if ever there was a road that needed upgrading its this one.

I'd prefer to see the people using it upgraded. No road when driven on correctly and at the appropriate speed for that road has ever caused an accident.
