POLICE are appealing for witnesses after eight-year-old boy was injured in a hit and run near Alresford last weekend.

The boy was cycling east on Winston Rise, Four Marks, between 3pm and 3.15pm yesterday near the junction with Blenheim Close when an unknown vehicle struck his bike.

The boy fell onto the grass verge at the side of the road and suffered severe bruising. He was taken to hospital in Basingstoke where he was kept in for observation.

PC Chris O’Connor, said: “The victim, who was left injured and alone by the side of the road, has been extremely shaken by this incident. He was helped by passing motorists and local residents.

“I would urge anyone with any information about this incident or anyone who thinks they may know who the driver of the vehicle is, to contact police at the earliest opportunity.”

I hope whoever the driver was gets caught as this was clearly deliberate and worse still, they did it to a little kid, what sick arsehole would hit a kid with their car on purpose and then drive away?
