Hampshire-based day nursery wins top global business award

Yellow dot nursery has won a top award.
A HAMPSHIRE-based children’s day nursery provider has scooped a top global business award.
Yellow Dot Nurseries, which has branches in the Romsey, Eastleigh and Southampton areas, won the ‘best overall company with less than 500 employees’ category of the Business of the Year 2013 in the Business Excellence Awards, sponsored by Action Coach.
More than 400 companies took part in the event and the awards ceremony was held at Cascais in Portugal.
Yellow Dot employs 280 people and is run by Jane Dyke and her business partner Trevor Dyke.
Former Chandler’s Ford teacher Jane said: “This award came as a total surprise and it was very flattering to receive it. I was reluctant to enter the awards but I am glad we did. Last year we opened new nurseries at Otterbourne, Andover and Hedge End so winning this was the icing on the cake.”
Jane added that the three new nurseries brought with them 60 new full-time jobs.
Yellow Dot’s first nursery was at North Miller’s Dale in Chandler’s Ford and it opened in 1997.
“We are planning to open more. Basically, it’s a case of supply on demand,” said Jane, who has nine day care nurseries – all in Hampshire.
