Hampshire businesses rally to help city's homeless
3:10pm Wednesday 20th February 2013 in News
James Hilling, at back, with representatives of the local businesses he has joined forces with to set up an outreach project for Southampton’s homeless.
Businesses across Hampshire have rallied to help one man’s selfless deed to help Southampton’s most needy.
James Hilling braved the cold on Christmas Day to dish up hot meals for the homeless.
At the weekend, he set up his stall again in Hoglands Park and plans to make the event bigger and better throughout 2013.
James, 34, has joined forces with his former colleague Reuben Stockwell 33, and businesses from across Hampshire to form WuWu (Wash Up Warm Up).
Among the firms that have thrown their weight behind the scheme are the Waterfront pub, which has donated 150 portions of chilli con carne, Top Hat and Tail Cars, which is paying for the fuel costs, Trans construction, which is supplying a generator, and Premier Party Tent, which has provided a 40ft marquee to host the project.
Anyone interested in helping James and Reuben, should email jameshilling.is@gmail.com.
