A MAN has been arrested after two students were stabbed at a university halls of residence in Southampton city centre today.
The students aged 18 and 23 were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a man with a knife attacked them outside Southampton Solent University’s Kimber Halls of Residence in St Mary’s Place at 3pm.
Students living on campus reported seeing at least one man covered in blood being taken to Southampton General Hospital as police swooped on the scene.
One of the first year students received chest injuries while the other had wounds on the abdomen.
One has been discharged following treatment for a superficial wound, the other remains in hospital undergoing surgery. His condition not thought to be life threatening.
A manhunt was in progress across the city this afternoon as officers tried to find the knifeman.
A 20-year old man was arrested in Winchester this evening and is helping police with their inquiries.
