ONE blow cost a groundsman £2,000 and landed his victim with a £3,000 dental repair bill, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Jake Harman threw the punch in full view of a police officer called to deal with a rumpus, sparked by a remark to a girl at the Ibis Hotel in Southampton.

Harman, 19, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Spencer Bailey- Farnell, who suffered a split lip and damaged teeth.

Harman, of Stockheath Avenue, Havant, received a 12-month suspended sentence with a three-month curfew and a 150-hour community work order.

He was also ordered to pay £2,000 compensation.
