Maasai Mara warriors visit Southampton
MAASAI Mara warriors will be in Southampton today.
John Lewis Southampton is celebrating its new Kuoni Travel concession by bringing the tribe of warriors to show off their dancing skills at the front entrance of the store.
The five traditionally clad warriors will perform two dances at 2pm and 2.30pm.
The Maasai dance, or ‘Adumu’ is roughly translated as the ‘Jumping Dance’.
This is traditionally performed by the men, who leap into the air to show off their strength and stamina as tribal warriors. Each young man will jump as high as he can whilst others stand in a circle and sing.
