A SUPERMARKET chain has donated £3,000 to a charity thanks to the hard work of a Hampshire mum.

Warsash Co-op gave the cash to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) after store employee Rachel Deacon began a fundraising drive.

It was after her five-year-old son Charlie was diagnosed with type-one diabetes that Rachel decided to fight for the charity, which funds research to find the cure, treat and prevent the life-long condition.

JDRF was named Warsash Co-op’s charity of the year 2012 and the team pulled out all the stops to raise funds from collection boxes and book sales to taking part in the Great South Run.

Before you think you are doing well for charity, take a look at where your money is going first......
