Vicky Pryce retrial due to get underway Vicky Pryce retrial due to get underway

THE re-trial was due to start today of Vicky Pryce, the former wife of disgraced Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne.

Pryce, 60, of Crescent Grove, Clapham, denies perverting the course of justice by taking the former Cabinet minister’s speeding points in 2003.

Huhne, 58, the former Energy Secretary who admitted the charge on the first day of his trial on February 4, will be sentenced at the end of Pryce’s retrial. He is expected to be jailed.

Pryce admits taking the points for Huhne but denies the charge, claiming he forced her to do it.

The judge in Pryce’s trial was forced to dismiss the 12 jurors last week after expressing concerns that they had not understood the case or their job.

After deliberating for two days, they sent the judge a list of questions including: “Can a juror come to a verdict based on a reason that was not presented in court and has no facts or evidence to support it, either from the prosecution or defence?”

The trial at Southwark Crown Court, before a new jury, is expected to last five days.

The by-election in Eastleigh caused by Huhne’s resignation will be held on Thursday.

A jury of 12 that, hopefully, will have a combined IQ of more than 12.

What a complete and utter waste of money.
This was a misdemeanour at worst and happened 10 years ago. This would never of got this far or of cost so much money if it had not been for the political status of Chris Huhne, who has already paid a high price with the loss of his job.
Just tell Ms Pryce to go home and sin no more

Eh, perverting the course of justice is a misdemeanour! The maximum sentence is life imprisonment. She's not on trial for the speeding offence, and the fact if happened ten years ago is irrelevant. Ms Price should have been careful what she wished for.

I would agree if we talking about an actual serious crime ( Murder, armed robbery, voting labour etc. etc. ) but we are talking about trying to get out of a speeding fine which I fell that for a lot of us, along with parking fines, is a national pass time.
No the only thing that has given this thing legs is the prominence of the accused, is costing a fortune and I, for one, am totally bored of it
