TWO Olympic heroes from London 2012 will receive the ultimate honour from their home town tonight.

Olympic gold medalwinning cyclist Dani King and Paralympic silver and bronze medal-winning boccia champ David Smith will be handed the Freedom of the Borough of Eastleigh.

About 160 family and friends and civic guests will join Hampshire torch-bearers and games makers from London 2012 at the special ceremony at the civic offices.

Mayor of Eastleigh Councillor Rupert Kyrle said: “Winning a gold medal at an Olympic or Paralympic games is a tremendous achievement and I’m extremely honoured to be presenting Freedom of the Borough to these two outstanding athletes.”

Only 13 others have received the prestigious Eastleigh Borough Council accolade in the past 35 years.
