TWO ex-Labour supporters will tonight give their backing to a trade unionist candidate.

Southampton councillor Keith Morrell and former Labour MP Dave Nellist are set to speak in support of Darren Procter, the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition’s candidate for Eastleigh at a rally this evening.

They will be at the Locomotive Engineers Club, on Station Hill, Eastleigh from 7.30pm. Cllr Morrell, who represents the Coxford ward, was one of two councillors that split from the Labour party in protest at Southampton City Council cuts.

Mr Procter is secretary of the Southampton shipping branch of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) and a member of the union’s national executive committee.

The TUSC stands against cuts and privatisation.
