CITY-WIDE 20mph speed limits in Winchester have come a step closer.

Civic chiefs gave the go-ahead for a scheme in Highcliffe and Winnall.

The Daily Echo reported last year that county chiefs have earmarked £200,000 for ten schemes in residential areas across the county, including Stanmore, Medstead and the Cherbourg Road area of Eastleigh.

Winchester has a further £150,000 from the local sustainable transport fund.

Can we have something similar on Gore Road in New Milton as a number of motorists seem to think it is the Nurburgring.

So why does this cost £200,000? Surely all they need to do is change a few signs?

By asking in the Echo? No. There's nothing to stop you launching a campaign, though, is there? Go for it.

Show us your workings. Ten schemes across the county, to have signs made up, the old ones removed and dispose of, and the new ones installed. Include materials, labour, running costs of the vehicles involved, the contribution of the purchase of those vehicles, and the administration.

Well for the £200,000 to do that we should just stick with the 30mph limit. Everyone will fo 30 anyway and quite a lot of the time around central winchester you wont be doing much more than 10 anyway.

No, come on. You clearly know exactly how much this scheme should cost, so explain it to us.
