UKIP chairman's car gets parking ticket in Eastleigh
9:19pm Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News
By Emma Streatfield, Senior Reporter
UKIP chairman Steve Crowther's Land Rover which was given a parking ticket in Eastleigh today
THE UK Independence Party’s chairman got a nasty surprise when he returned to his car after campaigning in the Eastleigh by-election.
Steve Crowther’s grey Land Rover, complete with the distinctive UKIP flags, had been given a parking ticket in Leigh Road.
He had spent time meeting voters in the town centre with party leader Nigel Farage in a last-minute push for votes.
A UKIP spokesman confirmed Mr Crowther’s car had received a ticket.
He said: “Given the restrictive parking regulations around here which are strangling the high street it's no surprise.”

Why oh why can't I walk my dog in the New Forest without some towny telling me to "keep that dog on a lead"?

Tomorrow there will be people meeting outside One Community near Leigh Road in Eastleigh dressed in fancy dress and anti-fluoride placards for a min-march across the park to outside the Masonic Hall.
Time: Meet 09:30 am.
Place: One Community, 16 Romsey Road, Eastleigh, SO50 9AL.
March cross the park towards the Masonic Hall.
We expect that there will be a lot of media there due to the Eastleigh by-election. Please come.
The contact person who is pulling it together is Roberta Beer – 07940 525707 or me on 07794 382673
Feedback from the Eastleigh Election Meeting last night when Roberta asked the question of the candidates is that:
· LIB DEM WOULD RUN A REFERENDUM ON THE ISSUE.
· LABOUR WOULD 'LOOK IN TO IT'.
· UKIP WOULD 'LOOK IN TO IT'.
· CONSERVATIVE WAS NOT PRESENT (AGAIN).
See you there. Please bring along all the friends/relations/ac
complices you can!

THE FLUORIDE PROTEST MARCH IS UNDERWAY AND ORGANSIERS ARE ANTICIPATING AS MANY AS 200 PEOPLE TAKING TO THE STREETS OF EASTLEIGH...
10:18am.
Just when you thought the protest marches were over, members of Hampshire Against Fluoridation are currently gathering in Eastleigh to make their voices heard.
They are planning a slow procession through the town to the Masonic Hall in Cranbury Road where voting will be taking place.
Their morning of action comes just weeks after health bosses admitted for the first time they don't expect fluoridation to be in place until 2014 - five years after it was given the green light.
The scheme, aimed at improving dental health, would cover parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Totton, Netley and Rownhams.
Campaigners say the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) should now "give up" on the delayed project, saying it is "morally and ethically" wrong to fluoridate water while questions remain over its impact.
For all thee fluoride debate see our special section - click here.
