Phone network spends £645K on Ultrafast service upgrades
3:50pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in News
MOBILE phone network 3 is upgrading its Ultrafast service in Southampton.
The firm has invested £645,000 into the network, which covers 89 per cent of the city’s population, with plans to cover the rest of the city by April.
The upgrade will see customers with an Ultrafast device, such as an iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia 920 or Sony Xperia Z, receive increased speeds without paying a premium or needing to swap SIM cards or price plans.
It is backed up by DC-HSDPA technology, which improves the performance and efficiency of existing masts in the area, and high-speed cables.
Ricky Blomley, 3’s Southampton area manager, said: “We want people to get the most out of the Internet on their smartphones and mobile devices.
“Our Ultrafast network provides great speeds, backed up by our massive data pipes and all-you-can-eat Internet prices to suit everyone.”
