Hampshire man joins charity team aiming to run around the earth

A HAMPSHIRE father will be pounding the streets of London as part of a team aiming to run round the earth.

James Earley, from Awbridge, near Romsey, will be among 1,000 runners taking part in the London Marathon on April 21 as part of a Mr Men and Little Miss team raising funds for Children with Cancer UK.

The team, which will stand out from the crowd in their Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests, aims to run in total 25,000 miles - the distance of the earth's circumference - to mark the 25thAnniversary for Children with Cancer UK.

The 40-year-old, who is a company director, has spent months preparing for the race and hopes to raise £3,000.

The charity was started in 1988 by Eddie and Marion O'Gorman, who lost two children to cancer within nine months of each other, but has gone on to raise more than £150million pounds for the research and treatment of childhood cancer.

James said he was motivated to run for the charity because his children were born very premature.

“We realize how fragile life can be.”
