Six-year-old Joshua Edwards from Southampton named Mr Handsome

Joshua Edwards Joshua Edwards

HE’S Mr Handsome!

Smart six-year-old Joshua Edwards won the hearts of pageant judges – just 12 weeks after he underwent open heart surgery.

The brave Millbrook lad, who suffers from a rare condition which also affects his mobility and his speech, got the vote at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel event.

Mum Michele said: “It was a spur of the moment decision to enter the pageant and he’s chuffed to bits.”

She added: “Joshua’s doing another one in May – He loves it.”

Born with a hole in his heart, Joshua has been diagnosed with DiGeorge syndrome which means he will have to undergo more operations in the coming years.

The Mansel Park Primary School pupil had a complex operation at the end of last year which allowed him to feed properly. He will have another this year to help him with his speech.

The contest was organised by Stars Through The Looking Glass which sponsors disabled children’s charity Follow Your Dreams.

ignore bazzeroz, warrenboy he's the living epitome of a knee-jerk reaction, the answer to a question nobody asked and a contributor who seems to get his jollies by ranting incoherently to no-one in particular on the internet.

why say anything at all then? why not keep your mouth shut on one occasion? why write down every single thought that rattles around in your head?

the premise of the story is clearly somewhat sensitive - why not show a little sensitivity yourself?

why not allow some people to have some joy in their life without raining on their parade just so that you can wheel out some particular cultural predjudice that you have about "more american cra..."

picture the edwards family telling relatives and friends about this story - maybe it's important to them that these people can read it and feel good for the kid, only for some random, annoying idiot off the internet to tarnish it all with a stupid comment.

(and yes i do realise that this rant also does that to some extent and that makes me feel a bit sad). but at least you got to have your say, eh bazzeroz.

Yes I did, thanks very much. What do you want to do? meet by the swings and dance around a handbag? By the by, this is a forum and doesn't belong to you.
