Alresford launch hunt for top watercress chef

WATERCRESS farmers are launching a national competition to search for the greatest watercress dish of the nation.

The winner, who will win £2,000, will be announced at the Alresford Watercress Festival on May 19.

Judges will be putting three finalists through their paces on the day and the winner will be given the chance to cook their recipe live at the festival.

All three finalists will enjoy an expenses-paid weekend in Alresford, the ‘Capital of Watercress.’ To enter, upload your recipe to watercress.co.uk, email info@watercress.co.

Other events at the ninth annual festival include the World Watercress Eating Championships in which competitors try to eat two bags of watercress in the quickest time and beat the Guinness World Record of just 46.69 seconds.
