Sixty police swoop in drugs crackdown
Police have arrested six people following searches at six addresses across the city.
Warrants were executed by 60 officers this morning as part of Operation Raft.
Officers searched the properties across Portsmouth response to intelligence concerning the supply of illegal drugs and serious acquisitive crime.
Six men aged 30, 33, 38, 39, 48 and 49, all from Portsmouth are being held on suspicion of offences including drug supply, burglary and handling stolen goods.
Chief Inspector Darren O'Callaghan said: "This third day of action in Portsmouth demonstrates our continued determination to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs and associated serious crime in the city.
"Today's arrests bring the total number to 29 and we have already seen five people sentenced in the courts after pleading guilty to supply of Class A drugs.
“Drug related crime can have a significant impact on communities so I hope today’s action as part of Operation Raft will bring some respite to those affected and reassure people that they can come forward to the police with information about what’s happening in their neighbourhood.”
If you are concerned about criminal activity in your neighbourhood you can call the police in confidence on 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
If you don’t want to speak to the police directly you can also call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 which will pass on the information.
