Southampton residents now have to find a home for three bins
12:27pm Wednesday 6th March 2013 in News By Echo Reporter
Luisa Castelbranco outside her Southampton home
SOUTHAMPTON residents were asking today where they are supposed to keep a THIRD bin when a new recycling scheme is rolled out next month.
Council chiefs are charging up to £55 to collect garden waste – but the price tag is not the main cause of complaints.
People across the city have reacted with horror when they have found out it will mean yet another wheelie bin cluttering up their homes – and the streets.

Those people must be very easily horrified. They must pass out in a faint when they think about the contents of our waste bins, poor souls.

I personally think there should be a garden tax.

It's a service offered if you want it, so what's the problem?

In counties like Holland and Germany they have up to six different bins, Garden waste? Compost it or burn it or live in a flat.

I think that people who don't have a garden should pay extra for not helping to deal with surface water and for not providing a habitat for wild life. Unless they live in Weston towers, there's plenty of wild life living in those.

What? It's a discretionary service! Pay for the bin or chuck the waste in the back of your car and take it down the tip. What were you expecting? The Council to pick it up from the garden at the back???? Dumb story. Dumb people.

the Government grant was for weekly collections & recycling schemes so isn't charging to take away garden waste that they then compost & sell breaching the terms of that grant?
I've phoned up before & you have to sign into this scheme & then are charged so burn it or take it to the recycling centre for free .
As I've said I will not be using this service & please tell me when before the election did Labour say they were doing this?

Can't you just dump it in the normal bin or is that against some rule ?
so the answer is if you get away with it it's okay if they find it they can refuse to empty your bin.

Ok really don't know where to start with this rant but here goes........Them row of houses shown in this article are along Romsey Road on the way into Shirley I walk past there every day,There is always empty food cartons sprawled across the floor so there are no guesses for where she is dumping her household items,Second thing the bins should only be placed along the public pathway on collection days every single day I walk past they are out make the pathway really small,They are mean't to put there bins outside the front room window in CONCRETE garden at the front of the house,You could easily fit three bins in that gap,Third thing garden waste ? They are all concrete along there & as far as I'm aware the council don't class concrete as garden waste. Also people are worried it will clutter up there homes ? Who keeps a wheelie bin inside there house ?
but look at her recycling bin it's overflowing how much of it is what your suppose to put in that bin?
I've seen many of the blue top bins filled with ordinary waste as people can't be bothered to sort out recyclable items from rubbish or have filled their normal bin
