Train services in the Hampshire were halted this afternoon after a container lorry smashed into a bridge.

Services on the Lymington to Brockenhurst branch were suspended while engineers examined the bridge that carries the line over Southampton Road, Lymington.

The accident - the latest in a series of similar incidents involving the bridge - happened just after 2pm.

Services resumed at 3pm after the lorry was found to have caused only superficial damage to the structure.

A Network Rail spokesman said the suspension was causing knock-on delays and advised passengers to check with national rail inquiries before travelling.

I hope no-one spots the lack of a capital V in the word 'vikings'.
