Woman, 18, sexually assaulted after getting lost on way home in Southampton

POLICE have released a CCTV image in a bid to catch the man who sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman who became lost on her way home.

He pounced on his victim as she walked along Welbeck Avenue near University Road, in Southampton, but she managed to break free and run away, shaken but otherwise unhurt.

This CCTV still has been released as police step up their inquires into the incident on Tuesday, February 26, at 3.30am.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the woman in the area at the time or saw the actual attack itself when the woman was grabbed.

She was wearing a white top, a dress and tights.

Her attacker is white, aged about 24 with short hair and a big forehead, and was wearing in dark clothing. Another man was seen walking through the area at the time from the direction of Welbeck Avenue and could be an important witness.
