Jobs under threat at cabin hire company
JOBS are under threat at a cabin hire company.
Staff at Southampton Elliott Hire, which employs 22 people in Marchwood Industrial Park, were told the bombshell news yesterday morning.
Eight posts face the axe after UK bosses of the multi-national company announced a restructuring programme.
A spokesman said: “This will inevitably involve job losses at its regional offices and manufacturing and assembly facilities throughout the UK.”
Five administration positions will transfer to the company’s site in Bristol while three management positions will go.
One will be offered the new role of Southampton site manager.
One worker, who did not want to be named, said: “The news was just sprung on us. It has come as a shock... no-one saw it coming.”

You need people working and earning reasonable wages at reasonable working hours to be able to spend in the economy, and when they are spending the economy grows with out that spending the economy slumps.
Making people unemployed is never the answer, it kills a economy, plus you will need to pay and give all sorts of benefits out. you can not make savings by making cuts it will end up costing more.
When people are made unemployed there is all ways a knock on effect to other business and they too will end up making cuts so more jobs are lost, so the slump just gets deeper and deeper with every job lost.
Slumps in the economy are created by the Capitalist because of there greed for more and not willing to share or lose any thing even for the sake of the bigger greater good.
The way though any slump is reduice production keep all the workers and make sure they do not lose any power of earnings, those at the top must learn to be able to take less profit just to keep the economy ticking over.
Plus Stay its you who saying there is no global slow down not me
