Major roadworks to continue on M27 through the night

Motorway roadworks to continue overnight Motorway roadworks to continue overnight

Roadworks are set to continue through the night on a major Hampshire motorway.

A stretch of the eastbound carriageway of the M27 will remain closed between junctions 4 and 5 until tomorrow morning, as essential resurfacing work is completed.

As reported by the Daily Echo, the work will prevent the build up of surface water on the motorway after periods of heavy rain.

Queues were reported on residential streets throughout the day, as traffic clogged up Bassett Green Road in Southampton, as well as Leigh Road, Passfield Avenue and Stoneham Lane in Eastleigh.

But transport chiefs today said the roadworks had "gone very well".

The motorway is due to be fully re-opened at 5.30am on Monday morning.

Didn't make the slightest bit of difference to my journey this morning.
