Fareham to benefit from council investment

£50K to spruce up town centre £50K to spruce up town centre

Civic chiefs want to spend nearly £50,000 sprucing up a Hampshire town centre.

New bike stands, canopies and public seating could be installed in central Fareham under plans being explored by the borough council.

Up to £28,000 would be spent on seating and 50 new cycle racks in West Street while £20,000 has been earmarked for a row of linked canopies in Portland Street.

It is all part of moves by the authority to improve trade in the town centre amid fears trade will be lost after completion of a new shopping mecca in nearby Whiteley.
