A TEENAGER threatened to shoot his stepfather who had intervened in a row with his mother, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Marcus Webb had tried to act as peacemaker but the argument escalated, which led to the 18-year-old storming off to his bedroom, saying he was going to get his rifle and shoot him. The weapon however was never discharged, said prosecutor Simon Edwards.

Webb, of West Park Road, Fordingbridge, admitted affray, and possessing a bladed article the following day after police had been called following another row.

Adjourning sentence until March 27 for him to be assessed for a possible drug rehabilitation requirement, Judge Andrew Barnett said he was troubled by the case. “Drugs appear to be part of it.”

Webb was remanded in custody.
