WINCHESTER’S MP has urged the city’s small businesses to stay positive ahead of more economic problems.

Addressing a Hampshire Chamber of Commerce meeting, Steve Brine said: “The key message from the Small Business Minister is that 2013 is not going to be any easier than 2012. We are dealing with a recession in the Eurozone and a severe lack of global confidence.

“We know this year is going to be difficult but our businesses will work hard to make sure they succeed.

Winchester is doing its bit, it’s always done its bit and will continue to do so. If we are positive and upbeat we can continue to prosper. Thank you for all you are doing to create the wealth and jobs here and please keep doing it.”

The meeting at Winchester Royal Hotel was attended by representatives from a variety of traders and was sponsored by Winchester Business Improvement District and the Hampshire Chronicle.
