HAMPSHIRE Scouts are welcoming serial adventurer James Ketchell as their new Scouting ambassador.

James, who has conquered Everest, rowed the Atlantic and cycled across America, will be marking the occasion by taking part in an exciting world-themed cycle tour of the county.

On Saturday, James will cycle from Ferny Crofts, Hampshire Scouts’ Activity Centre in the heart of the New Forest, to Lyons Copse Scout campsite near Wickham, via Southampton, Romsey, Eastleigh and Fareham.

During this cycle tour James, along with other keen cyclists from Hampshire Scouts, will visit a number of Scout groups across the county.

At each stop there will be an international theme, with various foods and paraphernalia from around the world, which will prepare James well for his next adventure, where he will undertake a global cycle challenge.

As the county’s Scouting ambassador for Hampshire Scouts, James will provide a positive role model and is able to share his experiences and stories of adventure to inspire the 20,000 young people and leaders already involved in Hampshire Scouting.
