A woman who had been drinking got into the wrong house, police said.

Police were called to a report that a woman had managed to get into a house in Southampton Road, Eastleigh, through an unlocked door.

A 58-year-old woman at the address, who reported the incident, said the woman had then stroked the dog.

She was escorted out, but continued to bang on windows, adamant that she lived at the property.

But the occupant said she did not and had never seen her before.

The woman, who was described as white, 40 years old, with blonde hair and wearing a red and white striped top and jeans, was leaving as police arrived.

Police said she had caused concern to the occupants of the house.

No one has been arrested following the incident, shortly after 7.30pm on Sunday, but police would like to identify the woman so they can speak with her.

Quite clever to go through a door - as it was unlocked it would have been much easier to open it... just shows what can happen when you've been drinking.
