Ejected party guest jailed for attack Ejected party guest jailed for attack

An ejected party guest lost his temper by repeatedly kicking and punching another man before stamping on his head.

The victim, Jeffrey Maidment, told police: “I can’t understand why he took it out on me. I didn’t get him ejected.”

He left the party shortly after drunken Gatis Freimanis. Fearing something might happen, he tried to run away but felt his arm being grabbed before he was punched.

Dawn Hyland, prosecuting at Winchester Crown Court, said Mr Maidment described himself being “punched or kicked like a football or rugby ball” before Freimanis ran off. Freimanis, 20, of Clovelly Road, Southampton, admitted causing actual bodily harm, which happened shortly after he had completed a nine-month sentence for affray.

Jailing Freimanis for 12 months, Judge Peter Henry accepted he had been provoked at the party, where he had been punched.

But he said Freimanis had been drinking and Mr Maidment had been subjected to a sustained attack.
