Man suffered fractured skull in daylight attack

A MAN suffered a fractured skull and serious injuries following a daytime assault in Southampton.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 45-year-old man was attacked by two or three men in Park Road, Shirley.
Officers say he was returning from shops when he was attacked.
The assault left him with a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain, a collapsed lung, and a broken hand and ribs.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital and underwent surgery.
Detectives say one of the attackers was around 5ft 5ins and wore a grey puffy jacket.
Another attacker wore a dark hat with ear flaps.
The attack happened between 12.45pm and 1.15pm on Wednesday, February 27 but police have only released the details this afternoon.
