Huhne is not being bullied in prison says his partner

Jailed: Chris Huhne
Disgraced former Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne is "absolutely fine and in good spirits", his partner has said, quashing rumours that the former Cabinet minister was being bullied in prison.
Carina Trimingham said claims that Huhne was ridiculed on his first day in Wandsworth prison and had asked to be moved to a wing for vulnerable prisoners were "complete and utter nonsense".
Ms Trimingham, who visited the 58-year-old on Wednesday morning, said: "He is getting on well both with inmates and officers and he is absolutely fine and in good spirits."
Former Cabinet minister Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce were both jailed for eight months on Monday for perverting the course of justice when she took speeding points for him a decade ago.
It was reported that Huhne was mocked on his first day in jail when a warder called him to breakfast shouting "Order! Order!" over a tannoy, and had been moved to a wing for vulnerable prisoners because other convicts humiliated and bullied him.
Ms Trimingham, 46, explained how she got a parking ticket during her visit to the south-west London prison. She said she turned up at 7am to see Huhne for what she thought was a one-hour visit at 8am, but was allowed two-and a half hours with him as it was an "induction visit" - available to every inmate when their receive their first visitor.
"I arrived at 7am, got to see him at 8am, and didn't leave until after 10.30am. You can't park there between 10 and 11 so I got a ticket."
Of the claims about Huhne's experiences so far in jail, she said: "It's complete and utter nonsense, there's not a grain of truth in it." She said when she had spoken to the former Cabinet minister about the rumours, he had said: "I can't believe it, nothing could be further from the truth."
"There was no tannoy announcement, full stop," Ms Trimingham said. "Also, all prisoners get their breakfast on a tray delivered to them the night before for them to eat in the morning. Second, he is not being moved, nor has he been moved. The first night you are all watched for your first night and then you get moved, if you're OK, to the regular wing.
"Yesterday he moved on to the regular wing and that's where he is going to stay. He has got no desire to move to another wing. He has not been bullied or ridiculed by any prisoners or officers and no-one has asked him for any money."

I don't think that any of his fellow prisoners have any right to say anything, quite frankly. It's not as if they are squeaky clean either. Everybody is on the same level inside and if I were them I would do my time quietly and stop trying to big it up just because someone is from some other social class from themselves. It's amazing just how hypocritical people can be in these situations.
This is a man that pontificated about morality, social responsibility and civic duty, amongst other things. The same cannot be said about your average inmate at Wandsworth. So he will be ribbed and mocked by his new 'pals'
Social class and hypocrisy have no bearing on his situation.
I'm sure he is sharp enough to look after himself and can deal with the banter he'll no doubt encounter for the rest of his time away.....

It's you that doesn't get the point, which is, that they are no better or worse than he is, so they should just shut up and get on with their sentences. That's the trouble with this society - full of people with beams in their own eyes trying to point out the bit of sawdust in other people's eyes. Its you that's being naive if you can't see that. All that I am asking is that they stop being hypocrites. Picking on Huhne is not likely to decriminalise them, now is it?

He'll get stick and he'll deal with it I'm sure. Those others inside will have far to go to match the hypocrisy of Chris
Huhne.

I found the story of the prison officer saying Order Order over the tannoy hilarious, typical prison humour, alas it wasn't true but it made me chuckle for a few hours at least.
