SPACES are still available for Hampshire teams to sign up for the ultimate fitness test.
So far 29 teams of three have pledged their support for this year’s Wightlink Wight Challenge, which involves a 19-mile cycle, two mile canoeing and an eight-mile run.
But there is still time to join in the fitness fun, either on May 25 or September 21, raising money for Wessex Heartbeat, Sail 4 Cancer and the Rainbow Centre.
Lizette van Niekerk, from Sail 4 Cancer, said: “I have never come across such a friendly and supportive challenge event.
“All the participants help each other when the going gets tough and nobody is ever left behind.
“It is easy to understand why these athletes are also so supportive of the three charities who benefit from this event, as they are special people who understand the value of good health and have great sympathy for those who are fighting cancer.”
Since 2004, the event has raised more than £160,000 and hopes to crack the £200,000 mark this year.
Registration forms can be downloaded from wightchallenge.co.uk and entry is £45 with a minimum sponsorship of £100.
