POLICE have issued an image of a woman they want to talk to in connection with a distraction burglary and two attempted distractions on the same day.
The suspect, described as slim and in her early 20s, is believed to have struck first at the home of a 76-year-old widow in Pepys Avenue, Thornhill, on February 20.
She contacted the victim claiming to have lost her cat and then said she felt faint. The suspect then took the victim’s purse when she went to get her a glass of water.
Police say it is believed the same woman attempted to dupe two other residents, one in Pepys Avenue and another in Tatwin Close.
PC Lee Murden, at Bitterne CID, said: “Under no circumstances should residents allow total strangers into their homes, no matter what story they tell.”
Contact PC Murden on 101 with information or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
