Man stabbed in knife attack in Portswood, Southampton
A MAN was found with a stab wound in a busy Southampton high street last night.
The 20-year-old suffered a single knife wound in the attack in Portswood.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was treated for what was described as a “non-life threatening injury”.
Police were alerted by a member of the public who saw a man threaten another man with a knife outside a house in Shakespeare Avenue at around 9.15pm.
There was a fight and a man ran off in the direction of nearby Portswood Road.
Officers searching the area found the victim outside the Charcoal Grill Burger and Kebab restaurant.
The man believed to have carried out the attack was described as black, around 5ft 9in, aged in his late teens or early 20s and was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark coat.
A 22-year-old London man has been arrested in connection to the incident and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Justin Torgout, believes the stabbing could be linked to drug supply.
He said: “We're looking into the possibility that this may have been connected to drug supply in Southampton.”
