IT WAS no pain no gain for fitness fanatics who donned fancy dress to help a Hampshire toddler in his mission to walk.
Despite the rain and considerable amount of mud, a determined team that included a female Superman, a sumo wrestler and two scuba divers, got their hearts pumping for a one-hour sponsored boot camp on Southampton Common.
They were put through their paces by personal trainer Dan Mitchell, dressed as the construction worker from the YMCA, who organised the session to raise money for Harvey Young.
The youngster, from Titchfield, who suffers from a form of cerebral palsy, needs to raise £50,000 to pay for a life-changing operation in America that will allow him to walk.
Dan said: “I was really proud of the team, despite the freezing temperatures and wet conditions, they all worked really hard.
“Too many people take exercise for granted and are just too lazy to do it, yet here is an incredible little boy who just wants to walk. So I wanted to give something back and show that exercise can be a really positive thing.”
So far the event has raised £500 with more money yet to come in.
