Firefighters in appeal for scrap vehicles

HAMPSHIRE firefighters are urgently seeking scrap cars to use at a training event in Winchester next month.

The service is looking for vehicles to help them practise their rescue skills.

Watch manager Steve Barrow said: “We have had previous appeals for scrap cars and the public have always been very generous in the knowledge that the ‘end of life’ cars are being put to good use.

“Any scrap vehicles donated will be allocated to the event on April 27 and any surplus will be used by firefighters around the county who will use them in order to learn the important skills they need when they attend life-critical road traffic incidents.”

Anyone with an unwanted old banger can contact Silverlake Garage Limited at Shedfield on (01489) 782537.

Members of the public are asked not to contact their local fire station.

Roadworthy and legal ‘end of life’ vehicles can be driven to the Silverlake site in Botley Road from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, or 10am to 1pm on a Saturday.

Speak with Hampshire Police, surely they can do a deal with all the cars they remove for no Insurance which aren't collected within the 7 days.

The Police may even hold a special campaign to get rid of these people driving without Insurance.
