A MAN said by Judge Jane Miller QC to have “played fast and loose” with the probation services over his unpaid work order was jailed for two months.

Winchester Crown Court heard it was the fourth time Gundars Freimanis, 22, had breached his suspended sentence order, which included 150 hours’ unpaid work for the community, since it was imposed a year ago for affray.

Tim Compton, prosecuting, said he had completed about 60 per cent of the work and had been prioritising his work above the court order.

He was said to have been holding down three jobs, keeping money for himself and sending the rest to his family in Latvia.

It's a pity that instead of jailing him at taxpayers' expense he can't be sent back to his family in Latvia.
